Tank

The British heavy metal band Tank was formed in Croydon in 1980 by Algy Ward and the brothers Pete and Mark Brabbs. In the early days they were very close to the Motörhead sound but later on they became more of a NWOBHM band. After the demise of Kamaflage Records they signed a deal with Music For Nations for the release of their third album in 1983. In late 1984 the band supported Metallica on a European tour and later on they did gigs in America in support of Raven before doing some headlining shows of their own. In 1986 the band stopped because of contract commitments but they never gave up. In 1993 there was some talk of a reunion album but nothing came of it and instead Ward spent time working with musicians from bands like Fastway, Asia, Network, Conspiracy and Motörhead in different projects. In 1996 Tank reformed though since there was a very big interest once again for the early 80's acts and they were offered a record deal. In 1997 the band played the Wacken Open Air in Germany before undertaking a European tour with Hammerfall and Raven.
