A never ending story

On April 25th, 2002, we had been married for two years and guess who came to Denmark - Andy and the guys. This is absolutely the best way to celebrate our wedding day. At the market in Døllefjeldemusse they played a gig at 11 p.m. and they were once again at their best. And now we have just returned from a small tour in Kolding and Aarhus where we once again had a great time meeting the guys and Sweet friends.

Two gigs more, it is hard to be a Sweet fan. In one week Sweet visited out country again twice, Ålborg and Maribo. And we were there - as usual. Then it was time for a Sweetgig in Hamburg, Germany - a part of the Sweetlife tour and it was Bruces's birthday! Great to hear 5 sweetlife tracks for real. And now we have just returned from two more gigs in Denmark, Skive and once again Broendby. And what a weekend.

In 2003 there have been several outdoor gigs with Sweet and we were there, we met Tony in June for the first time and he is really a very nice guy. Also in 2003 this site was relaunched and was approved by the man who made this possible - Andy Scott.

In 2004 we went to 2 special gigs in London and Peterborough and that was exiting. We heard a rock band ! Lost Angels and Cockroach - true killers. But life goes on, you know it ain't easy......  Sweet is our life and this is our story. A never ending story .....

Mette & Michael
Sweet Fans For Life.

We met in 1997

At the gig in '97 at Amager, I saw Mette for the first time. We did talk a little. The day before I met Jon and with Eva, who also was at Amager, the 4 of us started a friendship. This was the day after Holbæk and after the show we went backstage again. And I remember Andy standing there looking so satisfied and we all shook hands. Thanks for the show. The gang of us 4 planed to tour with Sweet whenever possible and it all began when the danish fanclub came up with a fanmeeting, but it was in Jutland and we had to get up very early in the morning. The president of the club drove a big bus from Copenhagen to the meeting picking up all us fans on the way. And it was a great day. We were both photographed next to Andy and all of our friends and relatives got a copy of the photos.

Suddenly we discovered that Sweet had 3 gigs in 3 days which we all could go to. Mette produced a tourguide including all informations and the 4 of us were rocking. It was 3 very hard days but we didn't regret it. The first one was in Jutland, the second in Sweden and the third in our hometown. After the last gig we all went to the local hotel where Sweet stayed. That night was unforgettable, we had a great time at the hotel. Jeff and Chad were absolutely at their best. Chad was the first person on earth that saw, that Mette and I was supposed to be a couple - Thanks Chad. You don't know what you have done.

The gigs

A couple of months later we were a couple and lived together. Now we were two the next gig was the old amusement park north of Copenhagen called Bakken. Sweet did an outdoor gig and I brought my at that time 8 year old son Jannick, who was also interested in Sweet - believe it or not. And he was a happy boy, during the end of the Ballroom Blitz Andy kneeled and Jannick who sat on the edge of the stage was allowed to play on Andy's guitar. He was a proud boy. Andy has now one more fan.

After that we went to Århus at Train to see Sweet again. We remember when Sweet was playing Poppa Joe we saw everybody dancing around yelling: Bom Ba Rom Ba Rom even at the toilets. Sweet were in town. We also took a trip to Kiel to see them perform at the Kieler woche. The centre of the city was one big party and there were thousands of people. Strange to hear the crowd shouting: Zugabe Zugabe when we are used to hear: We Want Sweet. At September 11, 1999 AS Sweet did Fox On The Run in Danish television TV2 prime time. Nice to know, that one million danish viewers were watching. And for the first time since 1978 we heard Set Me Free performed live at the gig in Göteborg, Sweden.

And here we are again

And were married in 2000

April 25th 2000 we were married at the beach in Krabi, Thailand. The most romantic wedding you can imagine. Dinner for 2 at the beach with candle lights and the stars shining brightly. We will always remember this. The next tour as a married couple was a 3 gig tour in 2 days - a tough weekend, but this time we got Set Me Free and Cockroach and it was great. Simply the best. At Ricks cafe Andy signed our wedding photo and we told him, that without him this wouldnt have happen.

In november 2000 we visited Andys home town, Devizes, where he did 2 unsweetened nights with his acustic guitar at the Black Swan. And we must say, it was great. Andy and his backing group Steve Grant were playing a handful of Sweet songs and Andy was telling the Sweet story, what had happened then. We also were invited to hear parts of their new album, which will be called Sweet Life. Another surprise. We heard about 6-7 tracks of which 3-4 of them were finished - the rest were back-tracks, but never mind. It sounded great. After so many years we are so close to this new album - we just can't wait. Thank you Andy for an unforgettable night.

Just married in Thailand
Sad news

And then on valentines day 2002 Mick passes away 5 years after Brians dead. What a sad day. We placed a very special photo of Mick in our home and lit a lot of candels in front of it and while listening all night to "The Man With The Golden Arm" we cried and cried. This will never be the same without him. May he rest in peace - together with Brian. Now it has been very quiet for almost a year and suddenly Sweet are comming to Copenhagen again in a place where they played 27 years ago. And Andy really enjoyed playing in Brøndbyhallen. When he was introduced as usual by Jeff just before Fox On The Run, the crowd was shouting and screaming and Andy was holding his hands up in front of his face - there was a little tear. Great. He and the rest of the band was more than welcome ! Thank you guys for two very special days here in Denmark. We really enjoyed it.

Then we went to the Devizes II show on April 13th where the new SweetLife was launched. A great show and a great record, this is like the good old days. This record is so close to what Sweet was or did or wanted to do and Andy is certainly keeping the Sweet alive - no doubt about that.

And this is from a gig

More gigs followed, much more, in Denmark, Germany, Great Britain and Sweden and wherever we can - we go there ! It is always nice to meet so many happy people at the gigs not to forget all of you we know. Hi there !    M&M
