Andy reunited with gold disc

Glam rock legend Andy Scott has been reunited with a gold disc missing for 31 years, thanks to BBC Wiltshire.

BBC Radio Wiltshire's Rachael Hodges and Mark Jones with The Sweet's Andy Scott.

Hans De Rijbel worked for a record company in The Netherlands which distributed RCA releases back in the seventies. But in 1982, the company was declared bankrupt.

In a storeroom they found a number of gold discs - including a framed version of 'Poppa Joe' which Andy had never received.

Gold disc rediscovered at a loft

The solicitor handling the closure of the company allowed the remaining staff to take their pick of the discs and Hans took Sweet's 1972 hit.

He recently rediscovered it when tidying up his loft … and decided to reunited the gold disc with its rightful owner.

After receiving the e-mail telling the story, we contacted Andy Scott who lives in Wiltshire who was delighted by the news …and after receiving the disc on Monday came in to show it off.
