Sweet were the biggest Glam Rock band at the time and to be in Australia where their popularity was huge to say the least was so exciting for a 14 year old. The crowd were so worked up even before the Sweet were on stage. They opened with there signature soft porn film with the music of David Rose's 'The Stripper'. Then the siriens that came before the start of 'Block Buster' and the crowd went hysterical. Then came 'Ballroom Blitz' followed by 'Action', the sound was so loud and the crowd so crazy, I thought the roof would fall in.
The one down side was that by 1975 Glam Rock was toning itself down and really only had another year to go as a music force, so the band were not as dressed up in all there attire that we were used to seeing in the film clips. This was the first concert that I had gone to, though I went to many in my life so far, but Sweet was always a fond memory of a time when rock was as fun to watch as well as listen to the music. The Sweet pushed the boundaries when people were very much conservative.
