Angel

This Irish band were originally called The Pebbles, and apparently had a hit in New-Zealand with the song Stand Up And Be Counted. They changed their name to Angel in 1974, encouraged by Mick Tucker and Andy Scott, who became their new producers. As Andy Scott had a lot unreleased songs, he decided to let Angel record them. Then, Angel consisted of four members with a similar look to Sweet.

Their first single was a catchy tune in the style of Ballroom Blitz, with Sweet type harmonies. The 'B' side was composed by the band and is a boogie in the vein of Status Quo. The same year, Angel issued a second single also produced by Scott and Tucker. Written by Scott, Little Boy Blue was re-recorded using mainly the beat some time later by Sweet under the title Fox On The Run and became a huge hit single in 1975! The 'B'-side is another group composition with some excellent guitar work. As the two singles did nothing, the band disbanded some time after.
